Relationship between Job Selection Motivation, Job Satisfaction, and Service Quality of Care Workers in Long-Term Care Facility

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating role of care workers¡¯ job satisfaction in the effect of job selection motivation on service quality. Job selection motivation is divide into three factors; economic motivation, social motivation, self-realization and self-development motivation as suggested by Alderfer¡¯s ERG theory. Based on the 354 responses of care workers recruited by regional quota sampling of long-term care institutions in Jeollabuk-do, this study utilized Baron and Kenny¡¯s steps for mediation analysis. The main research results are as follows. First, the higher social motivation of care workers produces higher job satisfaction. Second, the social motivation of care workers positively affects service quality. Third, job satisfaction of care workers is found to have a significant mediating role in the relationship between social motivation and service quality. Based on the results of this study, suggestions are made to improve job satisfaction and service quality of care workers in long-term care institutions.
